A funny thing happened on our first trip to Romania in 2000, Dr. Ted Bashford of Union Mission in Norfolk, Virginia, was making his first overseas missionary journey and we were asked to accompany him.
Dr. Bashford's granddaughter is married to our son and he asked us to go and help with the trip logistics. Knowing that God is always in charge, we willingly went and soon found God leading us to do something more than just logistics in this country. Specifically, take teams of volunteers and help existing congregations in realizing the answer to their prayers for a church home.
This beautiful country was ruled by a cruel dictator until 1989 with communism as the order of the day. There are many wonderful underground church stories, that will thrill your soul to hear, from people that lived during and served God through this great oppression. God has been working diligently in spreading His gospel message in this country.
During our trip with Dr. Bashford we met Kevin Winemiller of "Contending for the Faith Minitries". He does missionary work in Romania; he became the catalyst for meeting several other pastors, laymen and missionaries throughout the country. It is through these contacts we were told of the need for the church buildings. By faith, we knew God wanted us to take up this challenge.
Since that first meeting with Dr. Bashford, House of Hope has been privileged to help in eight different locations in Romania for the Glory of our Lord and Savior. Presently, we are working with Pastor Teo Bulzan of Oradea. He is a great church planter who has over 50 churches working with him. Through Pastor Bulzan, we hope to have the priviledge of helping many more congregations see their prayers answered for a church to call their home.
Here are the projects we've had the priviledge to be a part of and have now been turned over the local churches for Completion.
